Default So I gave a crack at polishing Berlina Black

car had a lot of swirls, previous owner took decent care of it, and washed it at home, but it was swirl city when I picked it up
After talking to a couple detailer friends I decided to give it a try (first time really)

Used a friend's older PC 7346 and Hyper Polish, with an opti orange waffle pad, car-pro gloss pad, followed by opti hyper seal.
Next time I think I'll grab the Harbor Freight DA with an upgraded backing plate. The old PC I used wasn't really powerful enough for a full 100% correction, but damn did it do a massive improvement

looked like this pretty much:

Looks great, Berlina is difficult but can look awesome with some care. I have tried a few different methods and products and had good luck with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and cutting then polishing foam pad on a variable speed polisher and paste wax made specifically for black cars.

Thanks!
I read so many horror stories on this forum about BB, and how soft it is. Correction is definitely a game of trial&error until you find the right combo, but I believe HyperPolish does an amazing job.

It looks very nice from these photos. Did you clay bar the paint prior to compounding?

Yes, of course
I used an Optimum Clay towel (fine)
It's incredibly sticky out of the box and you need to break it in on the glass prior to using it on your paint

BB is a pain to upkeep, and Honda paint is super soft.

Looks great! How long did the job take you?
I recently picked up an 05' BB as well. I'm new to car detailing and currently researching the necessary tools to perform paint correction.

Try ceramic coating it, it adds some surface hardness which helps prevent swirls (though they are somewhat inevitable).
