Use 303 on soft top
New owner of 04 in excellent condition. I have a lot of positive experience using 303 on my boats. I see others using 303 on their soft top.
What prep do you do before spraying on 303? Do you spray 303 or apply with cloth? Do you wipe it dry or let it air dry? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks |
Make sure your using the 303 Aerospace Protectant - - - as I'm sure you are aware, 303 has a number of items in it's product line.
I would give the top a good cleaning before applying the 303 Protectant. You could do this with a thorough washing with your regular car shampoo or use a dedicated product. 303 makes a number of cleaners including a top cleaner. RaggTopp also makes a cleaner. Once clean, I would let the top air dry for a few hours before applying the 303. To apply, I use an old microfiber towel which I fold over a couple of times. I pour the 303 into a small dish, soaked the towel and applied to the top liberally. I then wait 10 minutes and buff with a clean microfiber towel. |
Thanks for the tip. Yes, I only use the Aerospace 303.

I use only 303 on my 5 year old top, 2-3 times per year. And it still looks new. |
This is the method I use when I used to have a s2k, and when I detail other 'verts.
1. Wash top with a mild car shampoo. I use a big, soft brush, as it will provide a GENTLE aggitation to remove any dirt on the top. 2. Let air dry. 3. I would spray the 303 Aerospace Protectant on a round microfiber applicator, and apply it going side to side (not front to back), with overlapping motions. 4. Let dry for 20 minutes, the buff briskly with a short nap microfiber towel, using light pressure. Using a short nap towel will prevent linting, andd light pressure will prevent removal of too much of the product. Hope this helps. |

Excellent review of the procedure for application/buffing off of the excess. I always apply more product to the seam areas, those areas that are stitched and doubled over. I want to ensure that the protective qualities seep through the doubled area/stitching. |
It might not be a bad idea to dye the top with some Forever Black before using 303 if your top looks faded either.

Great thread guys. Much appreciated. Like Rugby says, get the right product depending on fabric or vinyl top!!

Thread back from the dead!

my favourite product was Raggtopp from Haartz , 303 Aero is good but it washes off with water/rain.
