Virginia to California SMOG

What's up guys? I recently moved to Otay Ranch from Virginia and failed SMOG here even though I passed in Va. Arghhh! :censored: :banghead: I failed due to my evap system being deleted. I bought my S that way and I'll like to keep it as such. Are all smog checks that strict out here?!

Are you trying to register the car here in CA?

For the most part all smog places in CA are strict. The three options you have are:

1. Put evap system back to stock.

2. Find someone who can "hot" smog (basically running an illegal smog test).

3. Keep the car registered with VA plates/tags?

It's looking like I'll have to just suck it up, buy the parts and put it bk in. The install just seems like a hassle

^Conformance is the way to go. CA is too strict. It's not worth it trying to circumvent the system. It'll either cost you more money than it's worth, more time than you care to give, or both.

Do you have the Izzy air pump delete?

That's exactly what I'm going do. This state is strict about everything!

Yea, I do. It's not throwing any code. I guess the technician just saw the deleted canister, sensor and hoses

That's exactly why I shipped my s2000 out to me while I was in Florida. Got it registered/plated there so that I wouldnt have to worry about getting it smogged when I returned.

For something as simple as an evap system--yeah just bring it back to stock. It might be worth it to illegally smog if you have a complicated turbo setup or something, but for an evap system, just revert back and leave it as-is so you're good for subsequent smogs as well.
