typical non-s2000 filter, 7/8 turn does not equal anywhere close to 18 ft/lb and is achievable by hand.

is that what you're confirming?

i doubt people would junk or rebuild bottom end due to low compression, without first figuring out what is causing the low compression, just like you did.
