I've logged many miles on an S2000, and have only test driven a Z before ordering one. There's something to be said for torque. The Z feels faster in general because 240 of the 274 lbs of torque are available from 2400 rpms. Contrast that to the S2K, which needs to wait until 6K rpms to feel fast. So for normal driving, the Z will feel faster, and in many cases will be fatser because the power is there right away. If the driver of the S2K isn't perfect with downshifting and keeping the revs above 6K, he'll get walked. If he isn't ready and is out of VTEC when the race begins, he's done. That's why drag races are so close, as are best-gear roll-on's; each car is in it's optimal rev range. Put both cars into 6th and nail it at 50 or 70 or whatever, and the S2K will get owned bad, simply because of the anemic torque. To me, the S2K in VTEC feels like the Z at any RPM. Different magazines at different times have tested both cars in the same general range of ~5.5 seconds 0-60. Some report 5.7 seconds for the S2k and 5.3 seconds for the Z. Another magazine will have those numbers reversed. Differing drivers, conditions, etc. People who say the Z will waste the S2K or vice versa are foolish. They are so very close when it comes to straight line acceleration, that other factors will determine the outcome, not the car itself. I won't get into the S2K's handling prowess because that isn't the scope of this thread. Rest assured, it truly is a 'driver's race' between these two cars.

Guys, you do know that we have a better power to weight than the Z. Our car is just harder to launch and has more aero drag (which comes in to play mostly at high speeds). Up to 90 I have no doubt the a good driver in an S could with repeatability beat a 350Z with a good driver. BTW put your top up it helps with top end.

maybe wrong but:

Z 287/3400 = 11.84 lbs per hp

S2 240/2800 = 11.66 lbs per hp

S2 better gearing, quality Honda hp and I think a better hp ratio between the crank and the rear wheels.

Granted Z: more tourqe, better starts, better aero.

In the end the S2 brakes better, pulls out of turns faster, and is faster between 60-110 which are typical tracksppeds for these type of cars
