you tried the dental floss/fishing line trick to remove the emblems?
Just take about a foot of either, wrap the ends around your fingers, put it between the emblem and the car body and "saw" the emblems off--won't hurt the paint at all and you just have to work around the two pins on each emblem by "sawing" from different directions. Simple Green or DeSolve-It will remove any leftover tape residue on the car.
It's really not that hard. First step would be to heat up the emblems with a blow dryer. "Thus making the glue soft" Second, use dental floss and move in a sawing motion, the emblems will come off in no time.

just finished painting the front and rear emblems black this week... front came out perfect. used dental floss to slice through the glue on front and rear and used small wire cutters to cut those annoying retainer clips on the front emblem off (front emblem such a pain in the a$$ to take off )

here is a pic of the front sorry for the poor quality

Here's a pic of the rear, I removed the S2k emblems from the side.

Almost Tactful, I just like driving it on the weekends and to car meets and such. I use my beater for everything else. I'm gonna drive it alot more this year though.
