i saw a thread where people were buying brand new 08 s2000 for around 26-27k otd. o.O is this possible in the bay area? the guy was from new york area.
Yes. Right now. Go look for "left overs" I bought mine after they first came out. The '09s are out, and a lot of dealers have '08s that they want moved.. so they mark them down considerably. But most times you won't get your pick on color. It's what they have. And they usually have a few hundred "beat on" miles that people test drove them, and we obviously not properly broken in.

what kind of scammers?
well the whole process of finally getting my s2000 took about 2 months. I talked to about 4 different private sellers.

First seller quoted me a price of $20k flat, after i take a look at the car. 3 days later when i want to finalize the deal he jacks the price up to $25k cause he got a "better offer" from someone else. No written agreement or anything, but i guess peoples' words mean nothing anymore...sad really.

Second seller kept telling me that he had an 05 when really it was a salvage 03 that he threw some ap2 fenders and lights on. He thought i couldn't tell the difference, looked at his registration (which wasn't up to date) and he tried to get me to buy it on the spot for $17k.

Third seller was selling his 04 for only $15k. I call him at his local number and everything and he claims the car is in Canada and needs to be shipped. His ad posted the car was located in San Jose and ready for viewing.

Fourth time finally was lucky and the guy was really honest (hard to find honest people these days). Did have a small dilemma though, car was registered under his dad as the lien holder and his dad passed away about 2 years ago. Had to meet up with him again to give him the title to get it signed off by his mom (due to some laws i guess, least what the dmv told me). He felt so bad that he bought me a detailing kit by armor all.

That's how my process went anyways. Patience pays off, don't rush into buying a car.

true. there is a lot of those people out there. im going to try and look into those deals on the 08 models. seems like a pretty good price for a new one. i really prefer white but it seems like there is a limited amount of white ones around the bay..

im looking for either black or white. thanks for the offer though. i know ap1's are cheaper but i like the ap2's a lot more in terms of looks.
s2kiono,
if your around the bay area, you will probably have to pay/look around more to have the color combo you want, just take your time. the longer you look around, and keep your patience the more deals will come along, take your time and goodluck
