You could on the Civic VTi; switch on the a/c whilst accelerating! Or decelerating, you could use it as a retarder...

It was really quite noticeable.

Other than that, no, probably barely on a car with such a PTW ratio.

Kind of why I regarded old IMA as utterly pointless with a 12BHP assist.

And rice bits a CWOM.

Fine on cars where one may easily liberate 50BHP with a set of 'headers'. And a Holley four-barrel.

Same as on the iGO - 67bhp and turning the AC on and off you notice. Do it on the S2000 and there is zero difference to be felt.

However they all sound nicer than the standard Brussled airbox.

The K&N FIPK makes power....there's no way everyone who installs one who actually goes and posts their Dyno results can all be wrong. All have pretty much the same consistent results

mines in the post btw and will be here next week.....also there's one in the for sale section at a nice price

I choose to believe this now a genuine, proven fact, and will use it as such. Especially as I am thinking of flogging my K&N. I can now say 'proven to give 3% power increase'

6.7hp gain is pretty significant
I wasn't that surprised about the result though, the stock box is restrictive.

OE air box needs to stop more large particles and be quiet... so engineers did a brilliant job to design the intake system to all the manufacturers requirements, with a 3 year warrenty its best the cleanest of clean air gets in.... its not to far away from the k&n filter and pipe set up....

similary with the exhaust, restrictions apply for manufacturing... so a cat is required and laege silencer boxes, thinker pipes that last longer (warranty) etc etc....

dispite all the restrictions mr honda had they produced a car that isnt far from perfect.....

so a few hp here and there from us "customers" without the restrictions that the manufacturer had to keep to isn't alot to shout about.... imagine what honda could produce without co2 emissions and noise and warranty restrictions!!! Yummy!

its the same for each area really....

wheels could be 18" and lighter. But budget and restrictions apply.

chassis couldve been a bit stiffer (honda admitted this) but budget and restrictions apply.

Equpiment couldve been more lavish budget and restrictions apply.

Over all what honda produced was amazing! They use some good kit as OE showa, nissin...

But on the road let me state again.

It is going to make NO appreciable difference.

FI = yes.
Intake = no.

Perhaps someone who is better at maths than me can do the headwork on how much further down the road each 1% extra power will throw you.

You don't need the math, which is good because it depands on area under the torque curve & gearing so it a bit differential, really.

The rationale goes easier; becoz racecar & F1 teams spens millions trying to get a .01% advantage over their rivals.

Honda has a F1 engine (under development)

Ergo S2000>racecar.
