By Captain Shelby Stanton. ISBN: 978-0-8117-0071-9. Stackpole Press.
Just bought this book. One of the best reference books on US Army units in Vietnam War (1961-1973). Unit emblems. Many photos. Infantry, Artillery, Recon, Special Forces, Armored, Calvary (fixed and rotary air units), Engineers, Medical, Supply, Transportation, some Allied units (New Zealand and Australian, Philippine, Thai, South Korean, South Vietnamese). When & where the units were stationed. First deployed and removed. Photos of weapons, armor, hard and soft skinned vehicles, fixed and rotary air, engineering vehicles, armored bridge layers, PT and other brown water boats.
I have quite a few Order of Battle books on Allied and Axis units during WW2 and Stanton's books is as good as any of them. Still gathering up information on US Marine unit history in Vietnam.
I am visiting friends in Punta Gorda and we just returned from the newly dedicated VietNam Memorial. It is a duplicate of the wall in Washington with all of the same names on it. There are plaques in the ground honoring all the local veterans who have died in the Punta Gorda area in all wars. Very moving.
