Odds and Ends Vintage Photos IX
Thanks, Mike. I don't think the focus is as sharp as it should be, but I had fun playing with the camera and the flowers on a cold winter's night.
Deb, nice pics. Do you stay close to home on a day "like today" in DC, or do you venture out?

Interesting story, will try to keep it short. Got a message on FB this AM asking if I had taken a specific pic of a lobster vessel coming through the hurricane dike. I had. The person messaging me was the brother of the vessel owner. He is buying an 8 x 10 of the photo. He also told me a local artist wanted to speak to me regarding the photo. As it happens the local artist ( a police captain) had grabbed the photo off a local FB media page where I share it. He says he began painting it then noticed my ©. Not so sure on that but he has now made the effort to contact me, most people would not. Anyway, the painting is on display at a local art show at UMASS and he'd like permission to make more copies. Very cool. I'm not sure if he is profiting from these copies, we'll be speaking tonight.
It turns out one of my Zumba pals also works on that police force, so perhaps that's how this was put together...not sure. Will get more details. It obviously makes me feel good about my hobby when one of my photos gathers attention such as this.
I''ll share the pic later, only have a lousy copy available at the moment.

Lainey, that's a very interesting story. It leads me to ask, "Do you live in a small community?" I do think congratulations are in order and I look forward to seeing the photo. I have enjoyed all your photos posted here, thank you for them.
Thanks! I live in a small town 10K people. The photo was shared on a local FB guide page in the city in which I work 100K people. Strong ties to fishing.

PS I didn't ask for compensation. Not sure how much would be the right amount. I gave permission on this one. He's going to give me an 11 x 14 print. One print will also go to a local family whose family member passed at age 50. He also owned a vessel similar to this one.
I do appreciate what this man (the artist) does for a day job, so we'll call this photo a gift of gratitude. I did mention that I have plenty of other photos, that perhaps we can both make some money some time if another of my photos inspires him.
