Best Track Slut under $20k

Depends on what kind of tracks are you going to;
autocross / tight slow speed track / not many straights:
FRS,
s2k
miata,
Autocross / some fast tracks / some slow;
350z
370z (can be had on the cheap now, especially 09 years), still a decently comfortable interior for daily.

notice how I didn't mention any turbo cars, from autocross experience, especially in hot weather these cars will be the first to heat soak & always have more downtime.

Pretty good. The motor and trans have been around since the 90s. It's just underpowered as a naturally aspirated car. Even with i/h/e/t youre looking <200whp, which the s2k makes stock. Weights slightly less than an s2k but not enough to really say it has a clear advantage. I've seen miatas pass vipers though, so it's not about the power you make, it's about the balls you have.

They had some issues with the tune causing a lean condition which led to DI seal degradation and ultimately engine destruction :O Supposedly that was "fixed" by 2014. But I wouldn't bet on FR-S/BRZ being in the same reliability category as the S2000. I still might get one to replace my 236k mile S2000, as I'd like to have the utility of a back seat and the luxury of a fixed roof (S2k wind noise is killing me).
