I think the long spindly branches are more a function of stresses during the plant's history. I know this from bitter experience. It's called being "leggy". Far from certain my identification is right but the Kalanchoe is a winter bloomer.

Nice set up. Tell me about your Sony camera. Similarities /difference to say a Rebel Series or full frame Canon.

I got one of these for Xmas. Only $10. Works great for taking group selfie shots with an iPhone; just turn on blue tooth and click the remote.

Target : Expect More. Pay Less.

 

I lack the selfie taking skills with the iphone. Maybe I need one of those gadgets, As far as my camera, I think I can adjust the legs on my tripod so it's pretty close to the ground. I'll have to check. I can use the phone as a remote shutter which is pretty cool. Eliminates camera shake. Have to play with that this summer as well.

 

I have a remote (Blu-tooth) for the Sony cameras. As long as you are in front of setup... works pretty well. Two second delay for selfies.

The last camera system I had was a Nikkormat and Olympus analog 35mm film type. I've only owned Sony NEX E-mount, digital stuff. A friend at work was a bigtime Canon guy. Lots of accessories. EOS equipment. He got a Sony A7. Sold all his Canon stuff. He says the lenses on the Sony are better. The A7 is full-frame. So you need FE or FF format lenses. They are very $$$. His 50mm SEL50F lens costs $1400, brand new.

My NEX and A6000 equipment is crop-frame APS-C format. So, the lenses are not as expensive as his A7. I really like the compact size and durability of the NEX series. I've gone through many hikes in cold and heat. Banging the camera around. Destroyed a couple of filters. But, the cameras hold up well. My first NEX was a used NEX-3. Upgraded to the NEX-5. Sold both and got an NEX-7 and A6000 body. I have the 55-210, 18-55, 30 (macro), and the new 18-200 auto-zoom. Looking to get a fixed 85mm/f 1.8 lens. I like the compressed look, esp for candid individual shots.

Thanks! My Rebel is crop sensor. I have the T6S, but still use the older XSi too. I can use EFS lenses or the EF. I have an 18-200 that is on the camera most of the time. That one was about $600.00 I think. I have bought a used 50 mm 1.4, and the 100-400 zoom (also used) is EF so on the crop sensor it's more like 150-600. I also have the 100mm macro. Photos taken with 100 mm lens are much sharper than photos taken at 100mm with the 18-200 . Next on list wide angle....

I'm happy with my set up. Mostly budget friendly, as much as camera equipment can be. Nice shot on the pic you posted. I need to practice with the 50 mm.
