Hmmm. Retirement. Now that Mardi Gras season is over, time to add a new hobby. Shutterbugging like Lainey and others, or modeling like Dave and others?

I vote shutterbugging...would like to see more pics here.

Nice flower pics, Wind! No flowers in our neck of the woods for a while.

I vote modeling. I'm sure you would look just devine walking down the runway in heels.

Pretty quiet at the office so I decided to not return after lunch. It was snowing and I had an appointment at home for the gas meter to be inspected.

Well I think the gas meter guy has stood me up, but I used my time to be productive. Brought out the camera, the 50mm lens and even the flash. Being creative with subjects is difficult for me. Nature is my best subject. This week in the photo forum one day's theme was "still life" I always think FOOD for that category, but Google gave me a couple other ideas. Out came the kids' books and a stuffed animal or two. Here's what I got. Comments, suggestions welcome.

Thanks, Catherine! Always something different to try when playing with the camera. I saw pretty snow scenes on the way home, but had no interest in any more winter scenes!

It sees like just yesterday I bought that pig at the zoo and read those books to Ally and Ryan. The pig is probably 10 years old and the books older....Time flies.

I bought a spare, used Sony NEX-7 camera body. It came with this Really Right Stuff (RRS) tripod adapter plate. I'm not sure how it works. Has anyone used this? Do I need an RRS tripod? They are quite $$$.

Thanks!

I have the Promaster XC 525 and (at Scooter's/Dave suggestion) bought the quick release plates which screw into the bottom of the camera, or into the tripod mount on the zoom lens. I have one on both my cameras and zoom lens. Easier to switch out cameras if the need arises.

It this similar to what you are showing in your pic?

I've never seen a mount like that. Is it possible that the camera does not have a standard 1/4"-20 threaded hole in the bottom and that is an adapter?

Possibly a standard tripod mount may hit the lens?
