Default 6-point harness & oem seat belt seatup

hi,

can you use the same oem seat belt holes to anchor the oem sear belt and racing harness at the same time? I'm assuming you also need to drill new hole for the insides (tranny tunnel side) for the harness to mount the eyelet

The OEM bolt is specially designed to allow the seat belt to rotate. I guess you could replace that bolt with the harness eyelet bolt and lose that rotation or use one of those bendable brackets that has an eyelet and reuse the OEM bolt. Yes you need to drill a new hole on the inside.

Yes and correct.

I had plates welded into the chassis to support the outer lap belt at an ideal angle. I secured the OEM belts using the harness eyebolt. The OEM belt is fixed at the proper angle for me and no longer rotates.

The trans side had plates sandwiched on either side. I go back and forth on if it should have been welded as well...

The oem Bolt has a bunch of washers and what not to allow the belt to rotate. I moved that all over to an eye bolt when i did mine that way. Worked 100% normal.

So you've got an eyebolt for the harness attachment along with the seatbelt at the OEM attachment point? That's brilliant! Way better than trying to squeeze it to the side of the seat mount bolt.

I use one of those schroth twisty brackets on the OE belt location. Tried an eye bolt but it gets in the way of my seat slider.

Which bracket are you referring to? I need to install a harness and wanted to try to get the hardware ahead of time. Are you talking about this kind?

I've found conflicting info about the thread of the OEM bolts. On robrob's page he says: "The correct size outside lap belt eyebolts are M10x1.25. They will screw into the stock outside seatbelt holes and allow you to clip the lap harness into place." However googling around many people say the thread size is 7/16"-20. Can anyone confirm what is the correct size? My local shop doesn't stock metric sizes but I'm pretty sure they'll have the 7/16"-20 in stock. Also could you comment how long the threads were, approx 1"? Thanks!

The outside seatbelt holes are 7/16-20. All safety related bolts I guess have to be that size/thread pitch.

@slowteg

Yes, that is the bracket I used. If you're swapping often it can be kind of a pain though, It's definitely not as easy as an eye bolt, but those don't fit on the outboard side.
