I heard that installing an aftermarket steering wheel hub and wheel is bit different on the 06+ model S2000's I think it had something to do with the resistors for the srs and vsa light or something like that. This is assuming the hub you are using comes with resistors of course. I will be using a standard works bell hub for my setup.

Does anyone have any better information on how one should go about installing a steering wheel setup on those years of s2000? If you have any pictures on how to do it that would be great!

 

I don't know if it was any different than 05- but it was pretty straightforward install with a Works Bell hub. With the caveat that my SRS light was already on because I don't have my passenger seat in so I don't know if the "fix" that they included with the hub actually works. I say "fix" instead of resistors because they included two wired fuses and not resistors. I don't know enough about electricity to say whether it's the same but I assume if that's what they include it must work. But the hub just fit right over too the SRS reel and no VSA light.

 

In for information purposes only. The only difficulty that I had was preserving my cruise control in my MY04.

 

No, fuses wouldn't do what resistors do.

A fuse is a tuned thickness of wire that will burn out if a set amount of current flows through it. It has virtually zero resistance.

A resistor is a component that restricts current flow. In this case it mimics the resistance of the airbag, so the ECU thinks the airbag is still intact.

Think of water pipes. A fuse is a thin walled pipe that will break open if too much water pressure. A resistor is a skinny section of pipe that restricts water flow.

 

With the work bell hub, you will need to use both resistors for the 06+ car. Feel free to PM if you need any additional help.
