Ugh...well, as you said, you are safe and dry. How about Chris' office downtown? I remember that building. I see they are using the convention center as a shelter. Is that where we went to meet Vito and Chris at the end of the race? It looks very near the Buffalo Bayou. They showed some people from Bellaire being evacuated by boat yesterday.

Yep that is the convention center downtown, where the marathon ends.

Thanks again y'all for your kind expressions of support! It does mean a lot to us in rainy, water logged Houston.

Jim, don't give up on the river cruise. My experience after Katrina was that most companies bent over backwards to help victims of the storm and I would expect the same for the good people of Texas. Talk to the cruise line and your air carrier and see what they can do. At minimum, they might be willing to book a later trip.

Keep your powder dry.

Ken, thanks for your kind thoughts. I think we will be ok. For us it looks like this will just be just another multi-day rain like the dozens we have already had this spring and summer. I am headed to the grocery store this morning and will pick up extra non-perishable goods and some water, just in case.

Thanks, Mike. Yeah, Chris has been on the phone with Viking and Lufthansa all morning. They will probably put us on a flight on Friday with several layovers, but we only lose one day in Prag. That's a lot better than no cruise.
It's good, that we now have two homeless people who will house-sit for us while we are gone.

Is it still raining in your area, or has that moved off to the east?
