Default Help - ECU error codes.

I've read the FAQ's and I can't find what I'm looking for so though someone might be able to help.

I picked up my car yesterday from Honda Beaconsfield where it had it's 35k service and spark plug, oil jet and seatbeld recall mods done.

All's fine with the car but I had an engine warning light come on after driving for about an hour. I know the codes are listed in the FAQ but how do you find and reset the code? My old CRX used to have flashing LED's in the pasenger footwell.

The manual says contact my local honda dealer which is not much use as they are all closed

Can anyone help? I need to know if the car is drivable? Thanks

You need the proper Honda software and connector to get into the diagnostics.

You need a short connector! Piece of wire

1. Connect the short connector to the service check connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
3. The blinking frequency of the EPS indicator light shows the DTC.

Info from Honda ESM CD

Its quite tricky, best get a notepad and use a morse code style noting! You get long / short flashes. Long are multiples of 10 and short are 1's

So 3 long and 2 short is 32.

They keep cycling, but with a longer gap between individual error codes.

If you can get to a dealer I wouldnt bother though. If its anything critical it normally sends the engine into limp mode.

There's a bit of equipment you can buy which plugs in and tells you the code - Can't remember what it is called though

Thanks for your help guys. It's a shame that I need to buy a SCS short connector. The flashing LED and morse type output on my '90 CRX was a lot simpler. I've spoken to Honda Beaconsfield who are happy to take it in and have a look at it for me. Unfortunately I'm not going to have time for a couple of weeks to get the car back to them.

They have said that done a great job and I would reccomend them. No hastle with the recall work and they are trying to manage a wheel replacement on my behalf. Honda want me to pay as the car is an 'import' from Ireland If I pay I'll make sure I get a new pair of '17s rather than sub standard '16's

They have also said the car should be fine to drive. The fluids are all fine and the car runs fine so I'm hoping it's something minor.

Thanks again
