did you install it?
do you have pictures of the install?
can you report on the install?

depending upon the report - anyone up for a group buy?

In a related roll bar thread in the Car Talk forum http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...p?threadid=9214 , Ray posted these photos of the Cusco bar. As wileecoyote mentioned, it works with and without the stock roll hoops.

Wileecoyote - could you clarify a couple of points? As you mentioned, the rear supports mount through the plastic in the window well, but it also looks like the side supports mount through some plastic trim. Also, the rear supports appear to restrict the space that the roof folds into. In one of the photos, there is a horizontal bar that can be seen between the seats. This would be a great place to mount equipment to, but looks like it may interfere with opening the storage bins. Please let us know if these are concerns. Many thanks.

The side support mount directly to the floor behind our seats. No panals or trims in between the side support bar.
The rear supports do not interfer with the roof.
The cusco bar that I got is a 4-points version which doesn't come with the horizontal bar between the side support bars. If you buy that version it prevent access to the fold out compartment and the secret compartment for sure. That's the trade off for 5-points harness mounting point.
Be specific of the different version when you order your bars.
Otherwise the fitment is perfect and (correction of my previous post)(4 bolts are used at each mounting point with thick backing plate.
Hope the info helps.

Thanks wileecoyote! I've been in touch with Giampiero from MG Racing who will be bringing a Cusco 4-point bar to S2KDays in Asheville. That will be an opportunity to check it out, and he is willing to organize a group buy on it if there is sufficient interest.

i just looked thru some of the old threads on the rollbar situation and had a few questions. the cusco 4/5 point( i would prefer the fifth point for equipment) looks like it fits my bill. i was wondering if it is scca legal? also, is there a good amount of clearance between the bar and a helmeted head? i have also seen mention that it can be upgraded to a full cage, is this true?

wileecoyote, i hope that you may have the info that i need.

I don't think you are going to find any Japanese maker's rollbar SCCA legal. I have met someone in One Lap of America who has his S2000 rollbar weld into the car. Looks pretty good, but I think it is too much work. I have already give up the search for rollbar. It is just too little production of S2000 to interest anyone to produce a bar that is almost racing only.

Just my $.02.

again, I am defintely interested in anyone with SCCA legal bar and fit under the roof. so, the search continues.

correct me if i am wrong but isnt what makes a bar scca legal basically determing by the weight of the car and thereby dictating the wall thickness of the tubing? my 2001 rule book is at home, but i remeber reading something about that. that said...the cusco, or any japanese manufactured bar would just have to be made of x walled tubing? i also thought that in most cases they did not allow welding?

thanks for the help.

It's determined by weight and material used for the roll cage, but also class (ie GT/Production vs Touring/IT).
