bang, crunch, clank. Uh oh.......
They said I abuse the car by excessive burnout.... ? ... I asked the service writer today if they even took the diff apart, and they haven't even touched it... They told my it would be around $4,000 to have the dealer fix it. I found a used JDM pumpkin with everything for $750... bad ass deal....

Sime,
get them to check the diff before starting on the transmission. The symptoms really sound like a stripped pinion.
If the propshaft was loose it could have damaged the propshaft CV joints, and possibly the pinion bearing in the differential or the output bearings of the tranmission. Even if you stopped as soon as it came loose the damage could be caused by one of the ends of the proshaft getting cockeyed and putting a huge twisting gronk on what was attached to it.
I would remind them of the loose driveshaft problem and get them to investigate things more throughly before attacking the gearbox. They should be able to run the car on a hoist and listen for gremlins in the gearbox or differential. They can also disconnect the propshaft and turn the differential and gearbox output shaft by hand and feel where the problem is.
Unfortunately it looks like yet another case of "premature rejectulation" by the Honda warranty system. Its a shame that the expected answer is "NO.......what was your question?"
Good luck.

Hello all,
Well, I spoke with my service rep and they told me that their S2000 specialist tech said that my diff was gone. Good diagnosis Speedracer. Thanks mate! I take it that they likely did what you said they should do in order to diagnose it. I thought it sounded like it was coming from the rear end.
Yesterday, they arranged to overnight a new diff for my car and it is completely under warranty. I should have the car back anytime between today and Thursday! Whether or not their incident with forgetting to tighten my propshaft had anything to do with the diff failure, I don't know. Either way, they are telling me that it will be covered without costing me a cent.
This is comforting to know as I am not abusive to my car and don't do burnouts where they could say that I do. As to what is exactly wrong with my diff, they don't know yet.
Thanks for everybody's help on this!
Cheers,

Just picked up my car from the Honda service workshop.
In addition to replacing the diff, they also found that 2 of the ABS sensors were faulty (front right and rear left).
They replaced everything under warranty.
My cost= $0.00
Back on the road again!! Woohoo!
