If you still have the hair burn the end to see if it is really hair. If it is a polymer, possible, it will melt and burn at the same time. Hair will just burn(with a very distinctive smell, if you don't know it grab a hair, preferable somebody else's, pull and burn away.). If it is glass fibre or carbon it won't do a whole lot.

John,

with that hair'y lead title, this excellent thread might be overlooked by many how would like to see it. -- I know I almost skipped it. And, since I didn't, I saved almost every photo in harddrive. Thanks again. May I suggest you cross reference it with a better description: Inside S2k Engine Photos in the Under the Hood section. If I understood all this PC stuff I'd do it myself.
