Default NRG Hood Damper - Not Vertical?

I feel a n00b posting this, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get my hood to be vertical with the NRG hood dampers. I have the low pressure kit but it was my knowledge that you could still "push" the hood to vertical once it stopped at the OEM position.

Anyone have insight for me?

NRG p/n: HD-140

I can't get mine vertical, I've got the NRG carbon ones with 1/2 pressure. Not even close to vertical. They are too short to go vertical, unlike the SOS ones.

Weird because every single S2000 with NRG dampers is vertical, except mine, and your apparently.

unless there is some way to twist or thread the bodies to a longer position, I have never tried to mess with them though ? I'd love to know if someone has done this, as the installation document didn't have any notes on this.

I have both NRG and SOS dampers but only the SOS will go "close" to vertical. The more vertical the hood goes, the more the rear corners of the hood deform the rubber cowl trim.

I also bought and installed the low pressure CF NRG dampers under the impression they would go vertical. I was just as disappointed as you! Lol

I have carbon NRG dampers and they don't go vertical either. I think this is normal lol

You can tell by looking at them that they are too short to go vertical, the SOS ones are longer. If you were in a pinch you could pull the lock pin on the front mounts and then extend the hood vertical with the hood prop.

Hey, do any of you folks find that the hood dampers get in the way when you are working on the engine? I'm considering this upgrade and frankly not sure how they might interfere with routine engine work/maintenance.
