No not really.
My deck mower busted a spindle bearing and isn't fixed yet.
So we had to outsource it before it got a foot tall.
I have to admit I sort of like watching it get done but dayum, it's expensive. $70 a week.
I guess I'll still keep mowing it myself.

I just got my third riding mower. I like the mowing, very zen like, but not much else.

$70, how big is your property. I was paying $30 when i moved here. Last house had no grass. I cut my own now, takes me an hour. Good exercise.

My lawn is too small to justify a riding mower and too big to mow in July and August with a cheap mower. I pay a guy 50 every two weeks to mow, edge, trim, and hit everything with a blower. Just a little quarter acre lot so this is a fair price, at least down here. Lazy? Hell, yeah. Especially when the overnight lows are in the mid 80s and the humidity is in the mid 90%s. Plus I don't have to maintain a mower or an edger or a weed eater or store gas in the shed. (Well, unless a hurricane is headed this way.)

Ray, I've got about an acre of lawn. it takes me about an hour as well but that's with a 48" cutting deck.
The yard used to be smaller but then we had to replace the leach field and viola!! I had another 1/3 of an acre.

OK, $3600 for a good 48" John Deer riding mower/mini-tractor.

20 week lawn mowing season at $70/week? $1400 a year so there's a 3-year payback. New mower seems reasonable.

I've got 2.5 acres of grass. Would love to have someone else cut it, but think I would go broke paying them. Neighbor had a crew cut his similar size lawn and plow the driveway. He paid about $3K a year. I paid big money to buy a zero turn commercial mower. My first one was $6000. Had it for 20 years and sold it for $1600. One of the best decisions I've made. Can cut the lawn in under 1.5 hours.

You forgot gas, oil, belts, blades, battery, and the effort to maintain the mower...removing, sharpening, and reinstalling blades regularly. And if you have a nice 48" Deer, you have to get a bagger, trailer, tiller, etc. etc. Plus you also need a push mower for trim work, and a weed eater, string, edger, and blower before you fire the lawn guy.
