I'm thinking of getting an old pickup truck for towing duty. The Ridgeline has enough capacity for my needs. They also seem to be a bit more reasonably priced than a Tundra or an F150 of the same vintage. But the miles always seem to be at or over 170K. Please let me know if any of you have experience with these things and what I should be on the look-out for.

We owned a Ridgeline new in 2006, and loved it. It felt very carlike. However, it does lack in power, but that is not why it exists. The extra bed storage was amazing as was the advanced, for the time roll down rear windshield. We now own a 2016 Tundra 1794, and absolutely love it very luxury like with truck utility. I can't speak for earlier Tundras, but my neighbor (contractor) has an earlier single cab. He loves it.

I only have experience with a very new one, but what I can tell you is that they tend to have high miles when sold and sell for good money. Gen two towing capacity is 3500 for the 2wd and 5000 for the AWD, tongue weight I believe to be 500, but I just don't have it on the top of my mind at the moment.

Bill, the one thing I will tell you is that Ridgeline owners seem to be as passionate of S2000 owners. An aside, my mechanic at the Acura dealer bought an 06 not long back, and he loves his too.

Ken, I think I would like the Ridgeline better than any of the alternatives. Towing capacity for the 4WD Ridgelines is 5,000 pounds which is enough for my small boats, but far too little for the Grady White. To tow that boat, I'd need an F250 or 350 or one of the big chevys. The bottom line is I do not want to tow the Grady myself and I don't want to buy a trailer for it, so it isn't an issue. The Ridgeline will give me the towing capacity I need. I'm just concerned about 170,000+ miles. Here is the leading candidate from Craigslist:

From what I understand, that price seems to really not be bad, though I am not sure which model it is, it does have 4WD. The only precaution that I have heard is the torque convertor. They had some issues with the early ones, I believe, but I could be very wrong.
