Default PSA: Want an OEM hardtop?

Why don't more people import them from Japan? Heres an Japanese auction site: http://buyee.jp enter this search term "???????? S2000"

Combine this with Jesse Streeter's service and current USD/Yen exchange rate, sounds like a good solution.

Lame forum can't render other languages. Basically I saved hardtop S2000 in Japanese as a search term.

Have you found what the average price of an oem hardtop from Japan? Shipping would worry me, i.e., seems like a high chance the hardtop would arrive with some damage.

The ones I've seen are abound $2,500 USD. I'd research Jesse Streeter and see his reviews. Many seem to be satisfied with his services, including shipping/packing.

It's cheaper to buy one from the UK. They're about $1000 over there, without the side catchers. However when you factor in the freight and import duty, its only marginally cheaper then buying it locally.

As nice as having it ASAP, I don't mind waiting longer. My assumptions are services like Streeter probably have a whole container full of items shipped to the U.S. to save on costs.

Good point, I'd have to find the Streeter equivalent in that region.

2500$ seems a bit expensive. In Europe they cost 1000-1500 used.

Shipping from Japan would be around $1000 usd minimum. but if you do freight, then you can wait for the boat for 2-3 months.
