Default CR front lip and bulkhead removal for roll bar officially allowed for SCCA Solo

In response to my question, this was posted in the latest Fastrack:

Street Touring

#22583 Clarification on S2000 CR lip and Hard Dog roll bar with harness

The STAC believes that per 14.2.F adding a CR front lip on a base model S2000 is an allowable modification. Also, removal of factory S2000 roll hoops and the bulkhead between them when necessary to fit a legal roll bar is a Street category allowable modification (per 13.2.G) provided that the total weight of the roll bar being installed is greater than total weight of the removed components.
Note though that since the CR *rear* wing requires additional trunk reinforcement, it may not be allowed. Front definitely is though.

Looks like I can add something else to the shopping list.

I'm not happy about this seat take back rule. It's hard enough getting a seat and rails to weigh 25lbs, making it 35lbs just tells us we gotta run stock seats

Stock seats are pretty nice, IMO.

or ziptie a 10lbs weight to the bottom of your aftermarket seats? I don't see the huge uproar of it.

I'm guessing the uproar is from people that spent a lot of money for legal weight savings that now have to add the weight back.

Though this is a little too late for me, it is better late than never given that the rules were contradictory in recommending a roll bar and harnesses in an open top car but requiring the bulkhead bar (which renders the harnesses unsafe). Personally I run the single diagonal bar, bulkhead replacement, OEM 3-point, and 6-point all with all panels put back in except one 3x10" plastic panel; net weight change was +30lbs.

The seat weight change... would require that I add 15-20 lbs per seat. It would be safer to allow ballast at that point, no? FWIW, I spent $750/seat for used kevlar seats.

Do you mean you already have added 5-10lb per seat, and will need to add an additional 10?

Yes, basically. My drivers seat (Nagisa rails and Recaro Profi SPA) weighs in around 17 or so pounds.
