About to reach the 200k mile mark.
So I just wanted your guy’s input and experiences with your high mileage s2000’s so that I can kind of gauge if what I am experiencing is somewhat normal. So I have a MY2000 with about 170k miles on it right now. I drive spirited mostly and not too aggressive by anymeans. No autox or track time. It is my daily.
So far the things I had to replace on the car were:
-Throttle body (tps issues)
-Iacv valve
-Map sensor
-Both axles (pitted cups)
-Driveshaft (too much noise and vibration)
-Radiator (Cracked)
-Motor, Tranny, Diff Mounts (cracked)
-Rack and Pinion (steering turning by itself)
-Secondary Fuel pump (stopped working so took it off)
-Almost all boots need replacing
-Car constantly having idle issues
-All door locks dont work with remote
-replaced window motors
What are your experiences?
I am constantly fixing stuff on a monthly basis

'06 with 145k miles.
One axle and one radiator(piece of metal pierced it on the freeway)
I've had to replace three right rear hubs, all replaced by three different Honda dealers in three different states while on vacation.
One hub only lasted around 2k miles.

I’m the original owner of an ‘01 NFR with 176k so I have nearly the same mileage. However, other than expected maintenance, I.e. brakes, fluids, tires, I’ve only ever had to replace the starter, knock on wood.

I just bought a 2nd (MY07) S2000 to use as a track car.
163K currently. PO didn't have to replace much.
Clutch (duh), alternator, throttle body, motor mounts and diff mounts is what he mentioned. It also has poly bushings...but I don't think the old bushings wore out before he replaced them.
It was supercharged for a while...so maybe some other stuff got taken care of?
Original hubs still. And original axles. No shake I can feel. Its been tracked a bunch.

It all comes down to how the previous owners cared for the car. Mine is an 01 with 117k on it with 3 prior owners. First owner was a Honda dealership owner who had it for around 7 years, so it was in very capable hands. Second owner was a man with more money than sense, who took on every mechanical problem he encountered as one would take a sledgehammer to a mosquito. For example, he hit a whitetail deer, had a front fender replaced, and rather than worry about having an oddly colored fender, he resprayed the entire car. He had a valve bend, and rather than remove and have head work done, he just had a new head and valvetrain installed. He must've been made of money. The owner before me had no idea what he had and panicked when the original clutch started to rattle, and he missed basic maintenance for a few years. As a consequence of the last owner, I've only replaced the TCT, Alternator rectifier, 4 plug coils, and the rest has been basic maintenance catch-up, with special emphasis on fluids, grease, and oem parts.
It's all in who owned your car before you, unfortunately. When you creep up over 200k miles, that effect is magnified.
