Can you believe this classic record in 60 years old! It a home run in my book . . . so Lainey, you are not alone. As I am posting this my wife is out running the mall with two of the grandkids ringing up the cash registers. Merry Green Christmas All.

I guess I am the only one who saw the humor in this. Lainey, since it didn't even generate a comment, I appologiize if I offended you. In any case, it represents the commercial side of Christmas that everyone I know gets sucks into. I didn't go hear the tuba player; maybe I should have.

Just noticed, just listening, (never heard it before) and NO offense. Heck, the other day I was thinking how we end up spending $$$$ every year buying stuff just for the sake ( it seems) of buying,.

In the spirit of the season, we make sure to contribute to food pantries, Toys for Tots and I take a couple "angels" off the Y "giving tree." Spending the $ on that seems right.

Thanks,

I agree, we spent Friday AM at an event for (1) food bank, (2) salvation army, (3) toys for tots, and (4) a personal friend who died of cancer but had a golf (really, who plays that any more) fund set up for kids.

Heck, as for the song, that was before I was born (maybe not).

For the record, I still like the song "Baby it's Cold Outside" The "me too" movement has got it wrong on this one.

Don't get me started. I just heard Rudolf and the Land of Misfit Toys is also politically incorrect.

Freberg made me smile, Dave. As long as I didn't think about how on target it is.

I'm on the other side with "Baby, It's Cold Outside", but not because of any PC influence or as a result of the Me Too movement. I thought the lyrics were a little creepy the first time I paid attention to them. Nice tune and a well performed duet but... Now seeing radio stations drop it from a play list that includes some pretty misogynistic song lyrics does seem pretty cynical and more than a little hypocritical.

I do like this take on the song from the musical comedy "Neptune's Daughter". As creepy as Ricardo Montalbán is in the first half of this video, the turnabout featuring Red Skelton in the second half is pretty funny:

It is right. Good for you, this is the true meaning of Christmas.
