Default S2000 potential purchase

Hello all,

Looking for a S2000 and came across this car up in Yorkshire. Initially, it looked great - low mileage and a later car for such good value. Almost to cheap. I did my online hpi check, and a few odd things came up from the mot history, especially 2010. The advisories could suggest an accident to the front end. Can anyone shed any light on their thoughts on the car please! The last thing I want to do is buy a car which has been in an accident previously or been abused.

the car has had 5 owners

Many thanks

Many thanks

For example, the gearbox gaiter isn’t original/ doesn’t look quite right in the pictures. If you see the MOT history - at some point it was an advisory as the cover was missing.

There is an auto levelling headlight bracket under the car - rear passenger side - which if broken might cause the misaligned headlights.

i wouldnt be put off it due to those defects from nearly 10 years ago

things to look out for is the suspention geo bolts - if these seize this requies cutting out and new bushes and bolt can get quite expensive

and the engine if i remember MY07 and onwards had some problem with thrust washers and excessive crank end float - it can be sorted but its another cost if its not checked and is bad (out of service spec) it can take the engine out then its around £4k plus for an engine and install

im not trying to put you off the S2000 as they are awsome but more be aware of the niggles

06/07 engines were rock solid. The thrust washer/excessive crank float was evident in 09 cars and the odd 08.

2010 would have been its first MOT - hence first headlight alignment check and might have been out since the factory
