New Daily for occasional track use
Hello guys,
Need a new daily. It will be used occasionally for trackdays.
Year 2007+
HP 180+
FWD / AWD / RWD
The chosen ones:
MINI JCW R56 w/ minor mods (remap, coilovers, Intercooler..)
2012 / 256hp remap and minor mods
Renault Megane RS 250
MY 2011 250 hp stock
Toyota GT86 Aero
MY 2012 200hp stock
BMW 220I
MY 2012 184hp stock (minor mods easy 280hp)
Anyone with experience in any of these cars? Mini JCW is the cheapest. BMW is the most rational option.

My buddy has a BRZ(86), its a super fun car all around, while its a 4 seat, its really a 2 seater with a rear cushioned storage lol. Nice trunk space. Not a ton of power, but enough to have fun in twisties.
Its got a torsen like the S and multiple TC modes. Its pretty balanced even with the TC off it rotates well, and the oversteer is really predictable.
I'd definitely say drive one.

Renault Megane RS 250 are really sweet and cool. Clio V6 is a dream car, but Megane is newer incarnate.

I have a FR-S (GT-86) as my daily. I actually took it out to it's first track day this weekend since my S2000 wasn't ready.
The car is a fantastic daily and occasional track car. I get 30MPG city/highway combined. I have had 4 people in the car only once and everyone was uncomfortable. Kids should be fine in the back, though.
On track it is miles easier to drive than the S2000, but it is slower. I would disagree with the above that it rotates well. It understeers pretty bad, which is good for beginners. Regardless, I had a ton of fun with it on track.

I'd go Toyota or BMW because RWD. The 2 series will make more power when modified, and it is balanced, but expensive parts.

Either way, still a fun car, thats not overly energetic for dailying. And fun in the twisties.

BRZ/FR-S/86 all the way. Cheap camber bolts will give some needed negative camber up front. I went with Raceseng camber plates on my BRZ and got -3.2 for street/track However they cost me some bump travel, so if car is to be lowered be careful there or ride over bumps will suffer massively!

Be mindful if you get an early brz/86, the first few years had a bad tune and injector issues. Friend took the motor out twice at the track. Subi finally said no joy on a 3rd replacement and he sold the car. Regular tracker. Getting on/off throttle quickly caused a super lean as the computer got fooled and boom.
Personally the interior/space you spend time in the brz/86 isn't something I'd want to live with, nor is the lack of power something I'd want.
Have you looked into a 350/370z? Trunk is miserable.
Could likely get a mustang for cheap with a v8...
