Potential new owner
Hello
My father had one around 2004..silver and red. Loved driving it.
I'm looking at picking one up. Is there a Wiki or FAQ for new buyers, what to look for in a used car...common issues etc.
I've found two local to me...2007 with 170k for $7.8k (claims some minor cosmetic wear thus low price..getting details) and 2002 with 190k for $8.5k
thanks
Jim

Good place to start. I came to this site AFTER buying and I got lucky that I found a problem free one. I got more education after buying than I did before.

As mentioned prices are regional and we don't have a clue where you are.
Read up on the various "generations" of these cars. Early cars have the 2.0 AP1 engine, those 2004 and later have the 2.2 AP2 engine, and those 2006 and later have the 2.2 AP2 engine with full electronic Drive By Wire technology. 2004 and later cars have 17" (not 16") wheels offering more tire choices. A new roof will set you back $1200 or so if done right. If not done right it will leak. Very early cars have a thin, flexible plastic rear window.
Plenty of reliable high mileage cars whose owners hang out here. Like any machine, though, low hours/miles is preferred. Prime under 50K mile cars seem to be selling at 3x the prices you mention.

I say clean carfax, but 4 owners in past 4.5 years...original owner previous to that...so either people bought at as a toy and moved on or something is amiss....

You skipped the research part of the process. There are several pages (probably here) that list the improvements Honda made every two years.
The 2007 is 5 years "less old" and has 2 generations of technological improvements over the 2002. Changes made in 2004 and 2006. Both engines peak at the same power. Thinking an 8800rpm redline (9000rpm fuel cutoff) is any advantage over an 8000rpm redline (8400rpm fuel cutoff) is a delusion early car owners attempt to perpetuate. Power is paramount not rpm. In 2002 there wasn't any choice. There was starting in 2004 if you were willing to buy the dated styling of 2000-2003 as a used car.
Be prepared for a flood of replies explaining how wrong I am. They have AP1 engined cars of course. But I'll several will have later wheels and bumpers.
