First Track Day I ended up skidding backwards on fire @ over 80mph
Newbie post here...
Having bought this little beauty back in 2013 from Ebay for around 4K I had a few years of driving bliss before I decided to track the beast
Snetterton was the venue and after having a quick lesson by whom I have to assume was the Stig's grandad, was let loose on my own and fun ensued...
Giving it the beans on the track not having to worry about oncoming traffic getting in the way, was for me one of the best motoring experiences I’ve ever had
After gaining confidence learning how to hit the apexes more accurately and increasing speeds through the corners the smile on my face only diminished when I realised it was nearly over
I went for it on back straight, doing about 115mph when the oil filter managed, under vibration, to expel its contents everywhere, thus causing a nasty firey thing to happen under the bonnet and then under braking it managed a graceful spin approaching the bridge (or whatever it is)
SO, my first track-day ended up me skidding backwards on fire towards the barriers at over 80mph - I was hooked and celebrated by ordering some new pants... Guys at Snetterton clearing up my mess... McLaren had just turned up for weekend testing - oopsNow after been bitten by the bug I decided to create a daily driver/track car so over a couple of years this lot were installed:
Ebach springs
Powerflex silicon bushes
New AEM ECU
Tarox 6-pot front brake kit
HKS Fuel injectors
HKS Exhaust (SPEC L _ AP!)
Toda Racing Header
Fuel pump / Injector upgrade
FCON Sz ecu
HKS GT supercharger Pro Kit
decat pipe
Koyorad Alloy Radiator
New engine from Nippon with under 45K on the clock
Hence my tag of Trigger67 as not much of the original car is left
All dressed up and nowhere to go...
Then TORQUE DEVELOPMENTS INTERNATIONALmapped it at and managed 342WHP so it had been transformed from 178WHP
So here I am ready to now at long last to take it out on the track until I checked the decibel readings
Now I knew it was loud but 107db static and 112db drive by..... !
We all know a little knowledge is a dangerous thin, but had no way of knowing that even with the standard cat back in, I have little chance of using this machine on a track-day. Especially as I let them know thats what I wanted to do.
Unless I reduce the performance by reducing the airflow / baffles&bungs etc
I'm sure this issue has been addressed on here before, but I wondered if anyone has recently had a similar situation, or have any suggestions who or what could possibly help?
BTW anyone mentions a Tesla I'll let their f%!?!ing tires down..
Thanks for the heads up - just spoken to Ryan @ Simpsons who asked me for picks of the underneath so I'm off to try and find some pics on here of an AP1 underbelly -cheers

Pleasure, please let us know how you get on...gonna need to see photos of the finished product; Simpson stuff top draw
A long time ago I looked after a very loud rally car, it would not pass noise so a little way up the tail pipe we drilled an 1/8” hole vertically, a wedge of wire wool was inserted into pipe and held in place by a strategically cut split pin till scrutineering was done, on the first road section the pin was pulled and the engine given so revs, wire wool exited like a missile, job done, not that I would suggest similar but?
Does sound like the classic hand tightened oil filter on an s2k. And this is why you torque them per honda spec and do not hand tighten! Glad you are ok as it could have been much worse!
Simpsons have seen some pics I sent over, and it sounds like they are going to base the solution on this set up without the double twin rear pipes - well at least it'll look pretty if I roll it....
They also mentioned that the sound will sound less like a bark and more like a growl bonus
