Default New soft top recommendations

Hi all, my 2006 soft top is falling apart and need a new one installed. I am located in Hampshire ideally would like to go somewhere nearby if possible. I have heard about South West Roadseters but Devon is 3 hrs drive for me and Monsoon incl fitting will cost about £1300. Is there any good reliable shop somewhere in the south that you guys would recommend? Or is it worth me getting a good shape second hand top and fit it myself, will it be very difficult? I have got a mate can help me out who is good with cars and tools but not much soft top fitting experience. Any help is much appreciated, thank you for reading.

I have just had half of my roof off in the thread just down

I would say it's time consuming, fiddly, you need ideally indoor space

But if you have time you can buy a roof for a bag

Honda ones are a lot more

I have travelled to Wales for budget option. They are decent, durable and waterproof. By far the cheapest

Monsoon are more premium and nearer you I think

I'm Hampshire/ West Sussex and mail ordered Monsoon for a DIY fitting, as above it really is time consuming and fiddly (you end up with back aches you didn't know you needed) but it's totally do-able in a day or over a weekend. I started with the cyclon36 guide and read around the subject to fill in any missing bits https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-ta...ns-top-448840/

I would prefer to pay a bit more for quality, some of the pictures I have seen here on the cheaper options look terrible. Its something your eyes are drawn straight to as well so it has to be right.
The trimmers in Swansea used to have a great reputation but I would not use them now from what I have read online.

There is a lot of shit chat online about Raymond

I guess it depends if you are a roof up kind of guy or not. But his customers are pretty happy

I had Raymond fit a new top for me a year ago. It's great and it looks great. It's much better than OEM and also IMHO better than the hood car wearhouse did for me in 2011.

...and just to confuse things a bit more, my experience is exactly the opposite; the roof I have fitted in Wales ten years ago was OK, but the roof I had fitted by the Car Hood Warehouse last year is much nicer in every respect, sorry OP!

There is a lengthy thread here worth a read...

and this one, for photos of my new roof. Good luck.

Hi, my S2000 is from 2006 and the hood has had a split in it for years. The main reason I had not replaced it sooner was all the aftermarket hoods I had seen did not look very OEM, mosty because of the way the rear window is attached at the bottom of the screen, and often narrowing the screen too.

Then I found these guys:

https://www.car-hood.co.uk/

Apparently they are the only aftermarket company able to use the patented rim system which is the plastic trim which sits at the bottom of the screen, as per the factory hood.

So last month I ordered one of their hoods and fitted it myself, if you take your time DIY is possible. I printed off the hood replacement pages from the Honda workshop manual and worked through step by step. Overall I reckon I had around 8 hours on it, over a couple of days.

If you have a go and get stuck give me a shout!
