Default The World Cup is coming.

I'm starting to pick up stories and videos on various social media feeds.
Scotland will be well represented in Boston, pips and all. The Netherlands are taking over Kansas City.
Of course the lads from jolly old England are discovering what US heat can be like.
What's that 94° with 75% relative humidity, sure coming right up.

Of course Boston aka foxboro aka Gillette stadium home of the New England Revolution and that football team the Patriots.
will be the most important venue.
Schedule of Games
Matches at Boston Stadium feature multiple international matchups:
  • June 13: Haiti vs. Scotland (Group Stage)
  • June 16: Iraq vs. Norway (Group Stage)
  • June 19: Scotland vs. Morocco (Group Stage)
  • June 23: England vs. Ghana (Group Stage)
  • June 26: Norway vs. France (Group Stage)
  • June 29: Round of 32 Match
  • July 9: Quarterfinal Match [1, 2, 3, 4]
Haiti just might have the legs on Scotland in the heat.

Tickets to the final game match can range from 8,600 up to 32,000 clams, seems expensive, but maybe along the lines of the Superbowl thanks to resellers.

I wouldn’t buy tickets for either game even if I had the money. Too crazy. I watch both at home on big screen TV. Drinks and food are cheaper too.

I agree Ray. I watched a World Cup game last time it came to the USA at the Silverdome in Pontiac Michigan, a few decades ago. It was okay , tickets were cheap back then, it was a low-key game with Russia vs. Sweden. I have no desire to see a game again. Toronto is going nuts with World Cup fever.

Soccer is a hard sport to televise well.
So much of the action is off of the ball, attackers sneaking out on the wing, ready for the break.
The only downside to going to games is the damn noise from the fans playing god only knows what, drums horns, bagpipes.

My first experience watching a top tier soccer game in Europe was last year in Porto, Portugal. I enjoyed it but the actions of the fans are just too crazy for me. The fans literally expect the players to score every time that they touch the ball. If the players don't score the fans would swear and scream at the top of their lungs, swearing and calling the players' mothers every name in the book. The fans would also break the empty seats around us by kicking the crap out of them, and they swear and threaten the referees every chance they get. There were two main groups of dedicated hardcore fan club fans positioned in the stadium - The Navigators on one side of the stadium, and the Dragons on the opposite side of the stadium, all chanting and singing, and banging stuff all game long, back and forth like tag-teams. We were told that many fans wait outside of the stadium at the end of the game to threaten the referees as they leave and trying to beat up the refs.

The Police are outfitted in full riot gear and present in large numbers. The fans of the opposing teams are separated and protected with barriers. I was told that the British teams are required to bring their own Police details with them to Portugal when visiting, as their fans are completely out of control, truly the worst of the worst. The Porto team is sponsored by the Superbock beer company, but alcohol sales are banned in the stadium due to past issues with fans being drunk. Now the fans just drink before entering the stadium and they are well hammered before arriving. It was interesting to see but not my cup of tea. I like to wear some Italian soccer jerseys during my leisure time, but I was told not to wear them around Porto as it could cause some violence. When we went to the game our cousins lent me some spare Porto jerseys to wear to the game so we are somewhat protected, lol. Crazy shit . I expect we will be invited to a game in July when we visit again as our cousins have season tickets.

If you want to come to the best soccer bar in the US, here is the schedule…to say it will be crazy is a major understatement.

Ireland’s Four Courts
