Default Start button to ignition switch change

I'm getting ready to install a turbo kit and will be modding the radio control pod to add my boost controller there.

The boost controller is 66mm, which leaves little room for the start button. I'm thinking about switch the start button over to this:

Longacre Ignition Switch

This would give me the room I need.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts about changing over?

Thanks!

I may not be understanding what you're proposing correctly, but if the plan is to replace the push button ignition start switch with this toggle switch then it should not work. The OEM start button is a momentary switch while the one shown appears to be a toggle switch. Wired into the original circuit path, the new switch would leave the starter spinning for as long as it is toggled on.

Correct, but you would only engage the switch long enough to start the engine, then return it to the off position.

You can buy a momentary toggle switch.

I agree with elmo. You can get the cover and switch separately for the same appearance. Look for "44218 Red" here and just pair it with one of their momentary toggle switches.

I'm going to go ahead and bring this back to the top.

Has anyone successfully done this? What parts? Pics?

I'm really just concerned about if the car will allow this to happen. I have an 06 AP2 and I know I can do all of the work, but will the toggle switch do the same and work as if it is the start button?

There is nothing special with the oem start button just replace it with whatever you like, a momentary switch is recommended though.
