Default K24 into S2000 Race car SCCA build

*dyno page 21*

So I've run some races in the S2000 in STU with SCCA and it's become overly apparent that the major issue is it's lacking HP to the ex world challenge cars and turbo cars. So I've been writing letters and shot down each time to allow some extra stroke or a K24 crank into the S2000 block. Can't beat em.. Join em. So I'm swaping in a K24. Rules won't allow me to mix and match head and block so I'm running the TSX complete motor. I'm hoping to have the car on track for testing some time in november and shortly after that were gonna start on a decidedly more STOCK K24 as a NASA build for TTC (but with TORQUE).

Plan is to build the K24, Build all the adpaters and needed peices and have it bolted up to my Spare S2000 tranny and ready to drop in the car before I pull the motor out of the race car. (this way it stays a working racecar right up to D day).

I've got a friend who runs an engineering firm cutting the adapter plate and engine mount brackets. He's got the design done and he's starting cutting metal this week. OS Giken is helping out as we will be modifying a K20 flywheel to work with my current S2000 Clutch. Money is as always tight so I'm begging and pleading favors from friends to get this built. Maggie (fellow S2000 owner) got my adapter cut for the Manifold to Head. Going to start tearing down the TSX engine this week and start the build. I'll take lots of pictures. I"m hoping to make this a relatively easy swap for people by documenting it most of the way though. Other then the Motor build it's self the plan is for this to be a budget build that someone could essentially swap in a K24 for less then what it would cost to replace the F22 motor.
Rules for my Motor build.
Must use OEM throttle body and Manifold
Pistons may only be 12.0:1
Cams may only be up to .600 net lift
No frankenstien motors. Head, Block and crankshaft must all match.
Before someone asks... No I can't add a supercharger or turbo.

Anyway, first pictures as I finished the Adapter Plate for the Manifold today!
Adapter on Head before Drilled for manifold

Drilled for Manifold (my old DBW manifold used for Mockup)

S2000 Manifold Mounted on TSX block

Adapter Complete

More pictures to come!

Super excited about doing this build with you Ian. You have been talking about the build for a year or so now and I never thought it would get started. But when MrSideways makes a plan he really sticks to it.

How much more power over your F2X do you expect to see with this K24 motor?

The F22 in the car has a K-pro tuned on race gas Endyne head and a fresh OEM Shortblock. Made 221whp. I'm hoping to find somewhere between 50-70hp and 40 ft/lbs of torque. I know the K motors will do 300+whp. The question is how high do I want to spin it reliably. Talked to a guy that built one similar to what I plan to do with just a tick more compression and built it for road racing. His made 313whp in a civic. I think I'm gonna spin it in the Low 8's and see what the dyno chart looks like from there.

I tossed around back and forth a bunch between a K23(turbo) out of an RDX or the K24. The video below is what lead me to the K24.
I raced this car at Daytona, I got the jump on him by a bit and look how he pulled me. this was a STOCK k24 in a car that only weighed 50lbs less.

This is an interesting idea.

How can you stay within points for TTC though? I can barely stay in TTC with a stock motor.

Won't be my car but the hope is to Dyno reclass it. But reclass it as something like 210whp but the key being 200tq on a mostly stock K24. Might have to do it with a restrictor plate.

It's a known fact that Mr. TT Chairman doesn't really like s2000s that much, I wish you luck.
