Default Forum Suggestion / Signatures Getting out of Hand (Again)

I realize this has been brought up before, but the signatures have gotten out of hand again with the Weather Underground banners. I actually think the concept is a great idea, but some members have taken it to extremes putting two and three of these banners in their signatures. It's finally gotten to the point where I had to turn of everyone's signatures, even though I want to see what mods and cars they have.

Is there a way to come to a happy medium and make another radio button option that allows signatures, but omits images and hyperlinks? That way, the people that don't mind the banners and images can see those, and the rest of the people can see just the text (or still select 'no signatures' as an option).

Dave

I agree (just see my signature for details!). And there should be an unwritten rule that requires your post to be longer than your sig. Some signatures out there are 25 lines or more! Yet the posts are only a few words long. =/

We'll crack down on those with excessive sigs as we see them. If you find one that is particularly bloated, let us know.

So, no option for each user to remove images from sigs?

I agree, being able to view sigs without images would be a great idea.......

There isn't one currently and I'm not promising to hack such a change. It might happen if enough people get irate about it.

hmmm... Just turn off sigs and images in your options. That's what I did and it's great. Now if there was a way to remove those useless posts...

There is.. Ignore Lists are fantastic.

However, I would like to see a feature similar to one that I've seen on other boards:

Whenever there is a post by someone on your Ignore List, in the place of the post is "This person is on your ignore list, click here to show this post". Because even the virulent poster sometimes says something constructive.

doh! Missed your last line Dave Z

Yeah, pellisS2k, it's kind of hard to ignore Josh though, since he has good posts (and because he's our moderator)
