How do I mark all posts as read in a thread?

I have email notifications turned on, and when I get a new email and click the link it always seems to take me back a ways in the thread to posts I have previously seen? This is a problem in long muti page threads.

Is there a way to mark all posts in a thread as read?

Unfortunately you can't mark a thread as read. The software does that for you. If there was a list of all the posts people have read it would be enormous.

 

So how does the software keep track of what posts I have read and not read??

 

That's a good question, deserving of an answer, but I can't remember exactly. I'll look when I get a chance.
