Multiple Image Upload

Or is it just me?

WTF am I doing wrong, or is it the site itself?

xviper 02-22-2005 07:18 PM

It's never worked for me. :rev:

revhi 02-22-2005 08:23 PM

I heard a ancient stories from the elders that it used to work.

AquilaEagle 02-23-2005 03:12 AM

It works fine for me, and it did last night :rev:

make sure you have Java installed, and click yes on the prompt.

Check what it says in the little box, it describes maximum limits etc :drunk:

freq 02-23-2005 04:04 AM

Once I open up the MIU box, the box is blank mind you, I drag .jpg files into the box and the images show up in the box, it seems to work that far. After I am done doing that what do I click next to complete the operation? The upload image button?

cthree 02-23-2005 10:07 AM

First, make sure your browser can do java applets. If it can't then the multi-upload feature won't work. We use 2 Java applets on the site, one is for the multifile upload, the other is for chat.

When you click multiple file upload it will display a popup window. If it's the first time you've used it it will give you a security notice first. Click yes. The popup window will have some instructions. Drap the files you want to upload onto this popup window and you'll see a progress monitor window come up as it sends your files. When it's complete the popup window text will change saying they were uploaded. Don't close the popup until after it says it's all finished.

I had to update Java to the current version. After that, it's worked like a charm.

What you describe is nothing like what should happen at all. The images aren't supposed to show up the popup window. The window is supposed to have instructional text in it and when you drag images to it another window should open showing progress of the upload. The text shouldn't change until the progress shows complete and the progress window closes. Then it should simply say it's done and that you can close the window.

Is this a java issue on your system? Does the chat function work for you? You should have Java 1.4.2 I think, I'm not a java guru. Mine just seems to sortof work without installing anything or getting too involved. I had some trouble using Java applet under firefox 0.8 but they have been working fine since 1.0 came out. Please provide browser info (software & version).

Mine worked fine last week

energetic 02-25-2005 04:01 AM

I have Internet Explorer (Version: 6.0.2800.1106) and it doesnt work as well. :(

mikes2k 02-26-2005 09:29 AM

Are you guys sure you are waiting long enough for the java window to open? If you are using a slower/older computer this can take a little while...it is Java and slooooww! ...but it does work

revhi 02-26-2005 05:24 PM

OK mine still no worky.

I hit the button, and it asks me to grant some Java session. I click yes and the screen says loading java applet. On the bottom it says applet rad uploaded untinted. Than nothing, it never loads and nothing happens when i tyr to drag pics into the window. Where can I download the proper Java?

FYI: Works fine in OsX 10.3.6 and Safari for me  :)

You can get all you need for Java here:

http://www.java.com/en/download/

Stratocaster 02-27-2005 04:31 PM

I have the same issue. OS:XP SP2. Browser:IE 6, JAVA: MSJVM. Chat works fine for me, but mulit upload never does. When I clik on the Multi Upload botton, a new browser windows opens. No buttons in it, just a 3"x3" gray back ground. If I drag a single pic to it, I can see the pic in the window. But there is no way to commit.

Comments?

P.S. I hate the SUN Java. So I would perfer not to have to use it.

revhi 02-27-2005 04:41 PM

I just tried the download and still nothing. I cant even drag anything in to the screen. Nothing shows up.

energetic 02-28-2005 06:03 AM

I just did the download from Java (thanks aquilaeagle) and restarted my computer as it is required. Then went to the multible upload and clicked it. The window pops up with the java icon and then am asked to accept the relative certificate. I pressed yes and I got the instructions from S2KI and I drag and drop with no problem.

In other words it works for me now just fine! Thanks. :)

Thanks for confirming that I'm not loosing it Stratocaster. I have the EXACT same scenario but with Windows 98. And yes, chat does work for me.

cthree 02-28-2005 09:04 AM

I guess the answer is to upgrade your java runtime.

revhi 03-01-2005 05:35 PM

It says I have the latest version of Java, but still no go. The screen still stays grey and says loading java applet. I tried on my g/f's computer and same thing.

Let me know if you guys have any other suggetsions.

energetic 03-02-2005 03:44 AM

Try to delete all cookies and files as well as history files. These might work. :)

AquilaEagle 03-03-2005 06:02 AM

:iagree: try deleting your temp internet files, and cookies, then see if that helps, if not let us know :)

sweetj 03-03-2005 10:33 AM

revhi 03-03-2005 12:08 PM

It will not work with Firefox, but I did get it to work with IE.

Thats good enough, thanks for the help.

sweetj 03-03-2005 12:15 PM
