It is NOT my email address, it is the scammer's email address. I don't have a problem posting his .

No member (or even user) here with that email address. Use your best judgement and practice safe sales.

The wheels are pending sale to someone else who I have spoken to on numerous occasions and is a member on this site. The person who sent the scam email was deleted... I am just sick of these idiots, it seems to be happening everywhere, not just here. But this was my first in the short time I have been a member here on s2ki. These guys ought to be hung and shot!

I get emails like that every day for cars...while Ebay has been problematic for that, a lot come from sites like cars.com, any place where they can contact you through email. I just hit reply and tell them to (*$&% off and if they contact me again I'll alert the FBI. It actually seems to work for the most part.

I think it's not that they're on s2ki.com, but they have programs, just like spammers, that pull your email address. Point is, if you list your email address on a public forum (e.g. in the listing) they will find it and contact you.

You need to use a great deal deal of caution and skepticism about anything Internet related. Use your nose. You need to be wary just like when you pull something out of the fridge. Sniff it. Does it smell fishy? If it's not right toss it.

You rightly concluded that this email didn't smell right and did the right thing by deleting it. This is how viruses and trojans get spread around. Someone sends you an unexpected file attachment of a type you aren't familiar with and know to be safe (like a JPEG image) you have to ask yourself why is this happening? Did this person really send me this file? Call them or reply and ask them "Did you send me this? Why?".

Such things are a pain but it's something you just need to get used to as they aren't going to go away. Everything happens for a reason and if something just isn't right about something let it pass. Not every deal is a good one, not every email legitimate and not every "check out this joke" message funny.

The woods are full of wolves. You can live with them and never get bit but you need to conduct yourself in such a way that you don't. It's just part of the reality of the Internet and of people in general.

yeah.

say if you put:

johndoe@hotyahoomail.com

some guys will scan the internet for these using some script and they'll pick it up and send you stuff.

so if you want to put your email address in public i'd recommend writing everything out like this:

johndoe at hotyahoomail dot com

they'll probably start picking that up too soon. oh well.
