returns the same result no matter what you search on.

Same here. My initial searches have been producing vastly overinclusive results lately, dredging up a lot of useless threads that have nothing to do with the search terms. If I try and change the search terms, the libraries to search, or other parameters, I still get the same gazillion irrelevant responses. :(

glad im not the only one with this problem...no matter what the query, it displays the same results. and the are all irrelevant

Yup, aware of the issue and will fix ASAP. Search is always a big problem to work on due to the enormity of the database. Hopefully it can be resolved by making a few code changes and not having to touch the db.

It's 3:18 AM but search is now working very well. results on good kwywords return realistic results quichly and you do get different results now each time :)
