krazik, do you have any idea why google doesn't index the s2ki.com forums (cookies?)? That would be another option to offloading some of the search load...

i appreciate all of your hard work toward fixing the problems...

but the new search sucks.

i loved the older style. it had no problems with me whatsoever. why couldnt you guys just fix the small problem but kept the same layout??

GRRR....i hate it when admins of forums take something thats perfect the way it is, then just **** with it. it has happened in the RX-7 Forum, SupraForums, and now this.

i also hate the format in which the search results are shown.

also, you cant search by individual forums, but im assuming that will be fixed.

We can and will change the look later.

But the old search engine sucked

1) because it rarely returned good results
2) was terribly inneffectient. It basicly was doing a HUGE and Nasty SQL select on every post in the DB. Add that you have 5-10 people searching for something at the same time during peak times it would hose the db.

We have 880,000 posts.

there was no simple fix to it. Members have complained many times before about the poor results from the old search engine.

So cut me some slack. We didn't change the search just because we felt like it. We had too.

and the new search engine IS better. I made a mistake and rolled it out with out enuf testing and before the updates are complete. I've been running the "dig" (catalog) of the site non stop for the last 1.5 days.

The data that is live now has even more posts in it.

Great job and thanks for your efforts. I know it will be worth the wait when you are done...

Why are the results returned as individual posts instead of as a thread? Makes it really confusing.
