What's the blue arrow mean?

OK, this may be a really dumb question. What does it mean when a forum topic has the blue arrow pointing down icon? I've not noticed it before, and it doesn't look like a redirect as the topic path at the top remains the same.

That's a new feature that comes with the new software. The blue arrow takes you to the first unread post. Note that this is different than clicking the last posters name which takes you to the last post. So if there are 10 posts in a thread since you last looked, the arrow will take you to the first of the ten, the last poster's name will take you to the last of the ten.
