I recently bought these OBX ITB's off of a local S2K owner through our Facebook group. I intended to clean them up and run them with my stroker motor that is in the process of being built with InlinePro. However, I was advised against it since it is my daily driver and I've already got enough projects on my hands. I'm just wanting to sell them for the amount that I paid for them. You will get the benefit of them being clean and sandblasted, which is a million times better than they looked when I picked them up.
Fair warning, the previous owner did inform me that these were exposed to an engine fire, but that they were still operational and will be fine after being cleaned up. They only had 2k miles on them before that incident, and when they came home with me they had some charred rubber on them, some soot, and some surface rust. The sandblasting took care of all of that. As you can see I have taken them apart and inspected/sandblasted all of the internals as well. The O-rings underneath the trumpets all look good and functional. One of them does look like it got heated up, but is still rubbery and not brittle. All the other seals seem to be working properly. I am in the process of re-assembling the ITB's and will have more pictures probably tonight or tomorrow of the fully-assembled ITB's.
The Good:
Freshly sandblasted with no major knicks or imperfections (gaskets all seem to be reusable and working)
They are ready for paint if you want to paint them a certain color
New bolts from Ace Hardware (got exact matches of all the original bolts)
Comes with coolant housing and bleed screw
Uses your throttle cable that is already on your S
Awesome sound
Quicker throttle response
They look great
The Bad:
Will need a fuel rail and vacuum box (part of the reason I'm selling is because I don't have the time to source a good fuel rail for these or route a vacuum box and make it all look good)
I have emailed OBX Racing directly and they informed me that the ITB's have a different fuel rail than their S2000-specific fuel rails and that they do not sell individual parts for their ITB's. I have taken pics of the distance between the fuel injector ports so that someone with more product knowledge can source a proper fuel rail to fit on these.
I was told by the previous owner that these were near an engine fire, but only had 2k miles on them before that happened
They did have a fair amount of soot and charred rubber on them, but it was all just surface level and came right off with some sandblasting
I have checked for cracks or any damage and could not find any. There was some corrosive pitting in a couple areas, but it looks like it shouldn't be an issue
Feel free to let me know if you have any specific questions or would like more photos. Have a great day!
