Default November 1st

November 1st means one thing at our house - - get ready for another winter!

Changed the furnace filter.
Changed the humidifier filter.
Cleaned the A/C & humidifier drain.
Unhooked the outside hose faucets.
Flushed the water heater and oiled the blower motor.
Rearranged the MG garage so my truck can join the MG.
Fired up the furnace in the MG garage.
And while I was doing all that, the good women that lives with me blew the frozen leaves in the backyard with the walk behind leaf blower.

I still have to pull out the lighted ghosts in the front yard before they freeze in!
I sure hope we get a couple warm days sometime this month. I would like to give the MG a final wash and change the oil.

Still dealing with leaves here. Will end up cleaning the gutters this weekend now that most leaves have fallen. Need to get a back door fixed (outer pane of glass broken) before it gets too much colder. Putting winter tires on soon. Sitting here waiting for there to be snow so I can get out the winter toys

I've had three snow storms already. I had my sprinklers blown out in early October before the first snow on October 10th. I took apart my fountain before the water froze and it broke the pump. My hoses are unhooked. What will this winter bring?

So far this fall it's already been 9 deg F!

It has been in the 30's here for a while now, but no snow. Well, it did snow a couple of times but obviously did not stick as it was early Oct

We will still be dealing with leaves for another 3-4 weeks. Although we've done two major cleanups already we still have two huge maples and a half-dozen huge oaks that have not even started to change color or drop yet.

I just mow more regularly and mulch mine. If there is a huge dump of them all at once that I dont want to leave on the ground, I mulch them, put on the bagger and run back over them to vacuum them up and dump a lot of them on the garden so they get tilled in in spring. The way I see it, I dont want to spend my time raking, bagging and disposing of what otherwise is free fertilizer

But most of ours are on the ground now, so not much longer now.

No formal list. Rick looked at the long term weather and will likely clean the P car and cover it up for winter this coming week. Snow tires on the S will go on later, no need for them now. Good all seasons on the car for daily use, so OK if it's cold. The Honda will get a cleaning and more paint protection (hopefully) with wax and my Jeep will get the same.

We have no trees in the back yard. Small yard with nice privacy shrubs (tall) all around. The leaves we do get from a couple small trees in the front and the woods across the street are easily handled with the lawn mower/mulched. There are some potted plants which have seen their day, and some of my little lawn decorations will be put in the shed.

I've got some fall cleaning to continue on with, when the mood hits me.

Dave, you'll be putting up Christmas decorations soon!
