Default Has anyone else over insured their S2000

FWIIW: When I realized that my insurance policy on our cars was coming up for renewal in January, it occurred to me that if i was involved in an accident (which would not likely be my fault) that the insurance companies would probably total my 2003 AP1 that now had over 168K miles on it, and write me a check for about $12K (or less if they thought that they could get away with it). Considering that I cannot replace it. I contacted my Allstate Agent and she arranged to insure it for $50K through Hagerty. The good news is that, my liability coverage (which is above the minimums, considering that I live in Northern Virginia with quite a few exotic and expensive cars in the area. That the delta was only $528 a year more than I was paying. So, for another $5 a year Hagerty will give me back the car if it is totaled. As parts are becoming rare, I figure someone like BillMan 250 might be interested in buying it for parts.

As I can not replace it. I figured that $50K would make a nice down payment on a Corvette C-8.

Matt, I have used Hagerty for years for my MG and deal with them directly. Great company. For classic cars 'Agreed' value is better than 'Stated' value.
It insures you will get the total amount if stolen or totaled. I must admit I am really surprised they agreed to $50k for the S2000.

I've got an agreed value of 25k through Hagerty (which seems like a fine company except that their phones never seem to work...)

Anyway, like dlq04 I'm surprised that they'd let you value it so high ... kind of tempting to total it, buy a cleaner, lower mileage version, and put the extra money in your pocket. Nah, who'd do that???

I'm also very surprised that they agreed to 5ok. I switched over my insurance on my 03 S a couple of years ago mainly due to the agreed value I have mine insured for 20k.
The premium is a lot lower with Hagerty than it was with State Farm but I lost my multi-car discount with State Farm so on a yearly basis I pay out close to the same total amount for both of my cars and I don't have the sled anymore so that was another vehicle.
I'm wondering how much more you are paying to insure your S at 50k than you would be at say 25k. I'm also wondering if your S was totaled how easily the claim would go.

I just recently insured mine with hagerty as well. I have an agreed value of 8k on my 02 with 160k miles on it. It sounds like I need to up that value once I start driving the car again the spring. I'm happy with the premium. I'm paying 379 for the year, full coverage.

I've been warring with my insurer over windshield glass.
With the crazy amount of electronics that now come as part of the windshield, I want OEM. Period.
I even asked them to quote me a policy that would state "use Mercedes parts" no dice, "can't do it"

Does Haggerty write policies in all states? What kind of restrictions are there?

Pretty sure they do cover all states and I'm pretty sure the car has to be garaged and there are mileage restrictions.
