Default 20th Anniversary S2000

Honda unveiled a 20th anniversary S2000 at Tokyo Auto Solon last week. This is NOT a new vehicle or a production model, although Honda does intend to release eight of these lightly modified AP2 S2000s into the wild. That would make this a rare car, indeed. Who plans to snatch one up?

Read more here.

Maybe the most important info in the article for S2000 owners is contained in the final paragraph: "Honda said that they intended to continue to supply a high number of repair parts for the S2000 for a long time to come, to keep the loyal owners happy and the cars on the road."

I think the car looks different...not sure I like it. But on repairs for the existing ones.

I don’t like the revisions. I hope they kept pressing body panels, hard tops, engines etc.

Then I have to wonder why so many AP1 parts are no longer available from Honda?

I agree. It is getting harder and harder to get needed parts for both the AP1 and AP2.

I wonder how they arrived at 8. If its the 20th anniversary they should build at least 20. I was tipping some brews with a friend last night. He's the one who walked into my office at work in 2001 and asked me if I wanted to go for a ride in his new car. He's always been a Corvette guy. Imagine my surprise when we went outside and there was an S2000. The rest is history. He still has that car with only 21,000 miles on it. He considers it his wife's car.

These are bolt-on parts made by what used to be an independent company which now operates under Momma Honda. The company name is Honda Access and they make aftermarket glue on parts for S2000s. The car they're using is the JDM S2000 . The grille appears to be stolen from a late-model Corvette which needs orthodontia.

Makes me that much happier that I just over insured my 2003 AP1.
