Default The Danbury Mint

I made the mistake of ordering a necklace for Donna from the Danbury Mint. OMG, I now get a flyer from them almost daily. I have called them twice to PLEASE stop. I am told it takes 6 to 8 weeks! Really. What BS. I am so tired of getting their crap daily I could scream. There latest mailers have me in love with my daughter for Valentines Day. Where did they get her name? Lord only knows.

The worst part is my wife said don't you remember going through this many years ago after you ordered a model car though them? Now that you mention it. . . . . .

Lol. My wife bought me a VW 21 window bus from them years ago, we kept receiving stuff from for ages before it stopped.

Edit: Sorry, mine was Franklin mint, but the same applies.

I feel your pain. I ordered a Tommy Bahama shirt for our trip to Florida and now I get daily emails from them. I unsubscribed so let's see how long that takes. These PIA retailers just don't get it. Next time I will go to the TB store in Naples.

I've gotten USC Christmas tree ornaments from the Danbury Mint for 15 straight years, a car, an airplane, a helicopter, a church, Santa Claus, etc., each with the year on it. Very nice ornaments. This last year it just stopped.

Email is easier to address than the USPS.

Just create a filter that sees the email address and set a rule to move it to Junk. You can even mark a few as junk/spam and your mail client should recognize that pattern.

As for the USPS, good luck. I'm going this route- Cindy and I both get weekly ads from the Ocean Resort in AC. We've never been there - they must have received our names from the mailing list from the old Revel hotel when they bought the property (or similar).

I have a box in my office. I put the ads in there every week. Sometime in March, I'm going to put a sign inside the box that just says "No thanks", spend $6 at the postoffice and ship the box to their headquarters. Rinse and repeat yearly.

Go into Mail and block them. They will automatically go to the junk file after that!

I once donated to a Feed the Needy campaign, which shall go nameless. Now I get a mailing from them regularly. I'm afraid the amount they spend on postage and printing just for me will eventually exceed the amount of my donation.

On the lighter side, I get quarterly statements from eTrade, always showing the same balance of $.04. This has been going on for YEARS. You would think by now someone would have done something so that my account balance would have increased to a nickle. I have never invested with eTrade and don't think I even opened an account with them.

How does this stuff happen?

I often donate to charities that friends/family members chose for something going on in their lives. Often it's a one time thing. I try to remember to add a note to my donation check or online to say - NO MATERIALS PLEASE. Or, after I get them a few times, try to call and say - stop sending me the 40 page color brochure each year on your great work. Save the $5 on printing and $2 on postage and put it to work.

You are not alone. We have done the same thing. Give to a charity requested by a friend who spouse has died and they never remove you from their mailing list. Some only come one or twice a year so that's no big deal. This Mint thing is something entirely different. I thought AT&T was bad with 40 or 50 sales pitches showing up year after year till I lite the fire under the Mint.
