adjustable fuel pressure regulator - how much HP?
One of the legal mods of www.Honda-challenge.com is an adjustable fuel pressure regulator......
anyone have a ballpark on how much hp that is worth? i already have a VAFC. My car produced some extremely low numbers on one of those dyno's that you take the wheels off and hook it up to it (dyna pack i think)...... he picked up about 20hp to 180 at the wheels with the VAFC......
anyway...... just trying to figure out if the fuel pressure is worth investigating.... would it cause any reliability issues? right now my car seems pretty reliable all around except for the driver.
thanks

You are not gonna see much hp gain with the fuel psi regulator. if you do get it im pretty sure ud have to go back to the dyno. Dont just slap it on and + the psi, it will most likely run rich.
I doubt you will see anywhere near 10 HP. My experuience with these its that they are non-linear. They can produce power in some ranges, go rich and kill power elsewhere. Unless you dyno tune, they may do more harm than good. And who says they are "legal"? Honda may not think so. Your state inspector might if that is what you mean.

An adjustable fuel pressure regulator itself does not afford you any horsepower gains. It's adjustability, and thus the ability to accommodate a more aggressive tune, is where you would see an increase in horsepower. Depending on your mods (or what mods are allowed), an adjustable FPR may or may not net you any useful hp.

"Legal" in the sense of staying within the guidelines/rules set forth by the body governing the Honda Challenge race series.

Yeah RR he kind of stated that in the first line of the thread.
Scot the car is rich from factory so you'd have to lean it out with a FPR. Which is risky, especially how hard you drive it! I would stay away from that and just spend the money on a header. It'll lose a little weight 5-7lbs, and give you some hp depending on which one you decide on. Toda seems to be a good choice even with the broken bracket problem. Used ones can be picked up relatively easily ($800 to $900). An adjustable FPR with tune would come out to half that probably.
