"Count me Blue" and "Count me Red" wristbands!

I'm not the jewelry type so I probably won't be getting one.

I did recently see a coworker with one of the yellow Livestrong bands on though. I hadn't heard about it until I asked him what it was. I'm guessing just about everyone's life has been affected by cancer in one way or another.

 

Whenever I see these things, or similar things, I can't help but think that behind them is some clever entrepreneur who couldn't care less about your political affiliation or beliefs. I can't help but think this is a "pet rock" for the political aware people.

I can't help but wonder where all of the money from the "support the troops" magnets, MIA bracelets, "Never Forget" flags and etc. went. I'm sure some small amount went to "the cause", but I'm sure a bigger amount went to some promoter.

I only use these examples because these are the ones that pop into my mind. The same chicanery goes on on both sides of the aisle, regardless of political position.

 

Absolutely right. Frankly, doing it for monetary purposes seems like the least caustic reason...

 

Newsweek had a blurb on how much money given to charity actually gets to the needy. Red Cross was about 91% and Feed the Children was (if I remember correctly) about 16%. They got an F.
