It's all about intolerance I guess. And yes - before someone points out the obvious - I am intolerant of bigotry.

This article appeared last week in the New York Times

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/20/po.../20sponge.html

It is absolutely unbelievable the depths that people will stoop to in the name of their agenda.

Gosh, Liggy - ya missed the one with the spooky music, so here it is (don't read the full link title, either....it's kinda scary, as well). I think we started to talk about this one in the controversial thread....somewhere after my controversial boots and before we decided we were a boring-ass bunch of old farts who really didn't want to argue about anything this week....

Holy codewords, Batman! It's not Sponge Bob Square Pants, it's Spong Bob's Queer Pants!
Yep. tolerance is bad.
A few weeks ago I was listening to Terry Gross interviewing the guy who views himself as the author of the "MOral Majority" and who helped formulate the fundametalist campaign durint the last election. He actually said gays who wanted to get married (and those who support them) were intolerant. She had to clarify with him a couple times to be sure she'd understood what he said.

The issue is not so much whether Sponge Bob Square Pants is gay, it's about the odd way that sponges have sex.

Unnatural sponge sex?

The other SpongeBob mention went right past me. I kind of lost focus for a while in regards to the "controversy" thread.

It's laughable but so sad at the same time...

The guy was the head of Southern Baptist Convention. He had a very different view of the world, one that I didn't quite understand.

What an animated sponge does in the privacy of his own pineapple under the sea is none of anyone's business.

Sheesh -- now I'm worried about my daughter. She's got a huge Sponge Bob poster in her room.
